Little Things You Can and Cant Do with an Invisalign Clear Aligner

If you’re thinking about getting Invisalign Clear Aligners, you might be curious about what you can and can’t do with them during treatment. Today, our orthodontists in Ashburn & Woodbridge, VA offers some helpful tips.

What can I do with Invisalign Clear Aligners?

Clear aligner treatment can change lives in several ways. However, many aspects of your daily life will not change during treatment. With Invisalign Clear Aligners, you can do the following:

DO: eat what you want

Since Invisalign Clear Aligners has been removed, you can continue to eat your favorite foods. Unlike braces, which you must avoid for all kinds of foods, from crispy vegetables to pizza, Invisalign Clear Aligners does not impose such restrictions. DO: Let your levelers brush, thread, drink and eat
Your balancers can be removed by brushing, flossing, drinking and eating have its benefits and problems.

Because you don’t have to deal with hooks or threads, brush and thread cleaning is easy (and removes any small food particles that can easily lead to bacteria trapped between your teeth and in your aligners). You can (and should) remove your levelers if you eat or drink anything other than water.

However, you need to schedule a meal for about two hours each day to get your levelers. Because you wear it 22 hours a day, you will soon plan your meals, reduce snacks and clean like a pro.

DO: Drink water while wearing alligators

Although you should not eat or drink colorful foods or beverages while wearing Invisalign Clear Aligners, you can drink water to stay hydrated. This is important for your health, as is the fact that Invisalign Clear Aligners can cause excessive salivation in some patients.

DO: Replace your next set of bed aligners

The first day or two, you may feel a little uncomfortable when you move to a new set of aligners as your teeth change.

Although this is completely normal, it can be annoying. Moving to the next set of Invisalign Clear Aligners in bed for the night will help you fall asleep within the first few hours.

What can’t I do with Invisalign Clear Aligners?

During a clear treatment decision, you need to make some changes and adjustments in your daily life. Here are some little things you can’t do with Invisalign Clear Aligners:

DON’T: Forget about wearing alligators

Your commitment to treatment and self-discipline will be crucial to your success with Invisalign Clear Aligners. In order for your treatment to work and solve your orthodontic problem, you must wear it 22 hours a day.

So don’t forget to turn your aligners back every time you take them out to eat, drink, brush, floss, or activities such as sports or exercising on a musical instrument.

DON’T: Clean your levelers with a toothbrush and toothpaste

Although it is important to keep the levelers clean, do not use a regular toothbrush or toothpaste on them, as they are too abrasive and can scratch the plastic. Instead, soak it in a specific Invisalign Clear Aligner solution, denture remover, or simply rinse it with water.

DON’T: Forget about brushing your teeth and brushing your teeth before each dressing

Good oral hygiene is even more important now that you wear Invisalign Clear Aligners, as any bacteria or food particles will be trapped in your teeth and aligners until you brush your teeth again.

That’s why you want to brush your teeth before each bandage and every time you eat or drink anything other than water.

DON’T: Drink colorful drinks when you’re wearing alligators

Colorful drinks like pop, wine and fruit smoothies can stain the clear, transparent plastic of your levelers – yikes.

To drink from the water, you must remove the levelers, drink (while remembering your daily food and drink schedule), brush your teeth, and then replace the Invisalign Clear levelers.

DON’T: Skip the dentist’s appointment

Even if you don’t have to make appointments for stricter adjustments than braces, it’s still important that you check with your dentist about your progress.

These visits will allow you to ask any questions you may have, address any concerns you may have about your treatment, and ensure that you are informed about the successful and timely completion of treatment or your course.
