iTero Digital Scanner

Using iTero scanner technology, your dentist can create a digital 3D map of your teeth in minutes, which you’ll be able to view in real-time.

What are Itero Scans used for?

iTero scanners are commonly used for Invisalign tooth straightening but can also be used for other restorative treatments including dental implants, crown and bridges. iTero scans reduce the need for traditional methods such as taking impressions, reducing your time in the dentist chair, and making your treatment experience more comfortable.

The iTero Digital Scanner is able to capture 3D digital images of your mouth quickly and comfortably using a sophisticated 3d scanning camera. The scanner, which looks like a small wand, is moved around the inside of your mouth capturing images of your teeth and mouth.

Is the iTero Scanner Safe?

Yes, iTero Element™ scanners are safe, accurate, and comfortable. You won’t experience any pain — the wand hovers over your teeth to collect a multisensory picture of your dental formation. It does not use radiation, which makes it safe to use for pregnant patients.

If you're still figuring out the pros and cons of Invisalign braces, it's possible to digitally preview your new smile before you start your treatment. And yes, if the results are satisfactory for you, you can also have custom retainers made.

Does iTero Use Radiation?

No. iTero scanners do not use any kind of radiation. It is safe for use during pregnancy. Designed for patient comfort, it removes the hassle of messy putty impressions and provides fast, predictable results.

The scanner uses laser imaging to create a picture of your mouth and teeth; there is no radiation involved.

What happens during an iTero Scan?

Your dentist will use an iTero ‘wand’ – a small, handheld scanner to capture over 6,000 images a second of your teeth and gums. The wand is pretty much a painless experience, so you’ll be able to breathe easily through it.

Some scans can be done in as little as 60 seconds so the 3D model is generated immediately. You’ll see a detailed scan of your mouth straight away.

iTero scanners are also more accurate than routine dental impressions made using putty – capturing comprehensive images of the entire dental structure, including the root structures and jaw underneath the surface of your teeth and gums.

This allows your orthodontist to design your treatment faster and more effectively, so you can begin your Invisalign treatment right away and get started on your journey towards straight teeth!
